You can choose to either Save Karyn or Don't Save Karyn. What a load of bullsh*t. If I had $20,000 in debt like this chick claims she has, then I'd suck it up and deal with it myself. What she's doing is no better than begging for money at street corners, and she doesn't even realize it. As you may or may not know, I'm unemployed right now. You don't see me putting advertising on my site (except for some links to things I've bought at Amazon and reccomend to others). You don't see me begging for money from strangers. Why? 'Cause I'm dealing with the problem myself.

I think it's kinda funny - who knows if she's really in debt, but she's created an entertaining website and is supposedly raking it in! Maybe this way she'll get a book deal and make even more money! Also think the Don't Save Karen site is great though I don't think they'll make big bucks - you never know!

Oh, you mean there's something wrong with begging on street corners?

I thought it was kind of funny when I read about it in the New York Times. If I were to donate, it would be for the entertainment. I didn't donate to what's-her-name because her site didn't entertain me (or enlighten me). I DID donate to that guy who made that very funny Flash movie about a day in his life as someone unemployed -- the same way I would pay for a movie or music or the Norwalk Hour.

I rarely give money to beggers (hungry-looking kids get me every time). But if someone is offering me something I want, I'm willing to part with a buck or two. If you were, for example, to put up a really good how-to site with content that I found useful or entertaining, and put up a tip jar, I would put money in it.

I've been wondering if a lot of the "tsk tskers" are just disapproving of her site because he or she didn't think about doing it himself or herself. Nobody could possibly be that judgmental, could they? Nobody is twisting any arms here, after all, or extorting money. She's just asking for a donation and promising nothing in return - if someone is dumb enough to fall for it, it's certainly nobody's business but the dumbkopf's.

Personally I think that the Don't Save Karyn site is more deserving (lesser of two evils?). They aren't advocating that you pay for their mistakes, rather that you pay for them to make mistakes (and get lap dances, apparently). The real goal of any of these cyber-beggar/internet panhandler sites is usually to stir up controversy rather make a few dollars. After all, registering a domain costs money that they supposedly don't have.

And they do have the possibility to make money through probability. You see, we start talking about them and linking to them which opens the floodgates. If only one in a thousand people that actually visit the site are persuaded to donate 50 cents, either because they thought it was funny, mistook it for a charity (despite their disclaimers), or are just that stupid then they can make money hand over fist. So link them up and give 'em a buck (I'm not linking to them because I'm just plain poor and don't want to waste my money): gimmeabuck.com, datinghotwomen.com, whiteymustpay.com, buddycanuspareadime.com, sendmeadollar.com, and lest we forget savekaryn.com and dontsavekaryn.com

I think giving money to needy people is a good and worthy thing....although "SaveKaryn" and "DontSaveKaryn" are neither. Personally I have donated money to people on the internet. The best one I have seen is www.SaveAnActor.com

save karyn is such bull! I say "don't save a shopaholic. I'd rather give my buck to SaveAnActor.com, at least she's trying to fulfill her dream!

while you guys are on the subject, come visit my site
http://www.moneywaster.com
i got some links to disgruntled workers and things like that.

I wish I could say I was screwed because of
buying expensive crap from Macy's or Bloomingdales. I've never even been in those stores. I shop at ROSS and PAYLESS SHOE SOURCE (when I have extra money.)

Yes, I have bought clothes and taken them back to get the money. I have worn the shoes once to an interview and then took them back. HELL I EVEN TELL THE PEOPLE AT BURGER KING THAT THEY MESSED UP JUST SO I COULD GET A FREE BURGER TO EAT!

I ask for one dollar. Nothing more nothing less...and I have received help from REALLY nice people. Karyn, Karen, Care Inn is a complete ass. $600.00 dollars for a purse when I need to collect cans and ride my bike to my doctor's appointments.
If you hate Careless Karyn as much as I do...send ME a dollar! http://www.help4heather.com
Happily NOT Karyn,
Heather xo

Don't worry about it Heather - I've deleted the extras.

Now, if you all don't mind.... you can donate some money to me as well as some of the other fine "charities" listed below. Just remember, you wouldn't know about them if it wasn't for me, right? :)

If you want to give to a real cause, check out my web page. I did not go out on a shopping spree.

Well,

Two week ago Karyn official became debt free. At least that is what she is saying on her website.

She is even honoring her promise to pass the buck along.

Here page KARYN SAVES YOU adds one person a week that needs help monetarily.

So, she was truthful about that.

I am more than willing to trade links to help someone in need.

Rick
