So, I was just updating a special little program that I have (it runs every day at 0:05 to create any special daily messages) so that it marks the anniversary of my first and second layoffs – both from the same damn company – and noticed that both times it was on the 5th of the month. Damn that sucks.
Time to stop dwelling (for the minute, anyway) on the job issues.
Time, instead, to mention that the webcam will be making a semi-limited sort of return. The one on my laptop will be updated whenever I remember, but the one on my desktop will be making a more frequent visit – especially since I’ll likely have the office finished by then.
“Office? What office?” you ask yourselves… Well, Jen and I decided that one of the quotes we got to build me an office was too good to pass up, so we started it. The contractor is coming back tomorrow at a very early time to finish the taping and setup for the wiring. The electrician is coming on Monday to give a quote and possibly do the work – otherwise he said he’d be back on Wednesday to do the work.
Once all that’s done, I prime, I paint, I occupy. I have to wire for the cable modem and all that stuff myself, but that should be fairly easy – and fun, too. Help me choose a color for the walls – see the poll over in the right column.
So, in my various discussions with various former co-workers (now simply friends), I’ve come to realize that the bullshit reasons I was given for being laid off are simply that: bullshit. They don’t hold water in light of some things that happened recently, so I’ll be calling my friendly HR person to discuss this. Won’t Monday be fun? I doubt it.
